Privacy policy

This policy covers ponkotools.com ("this site"), which is run by PonkoTools. Each product site and each app has its own separate privacy policy.

Who runs this site

This site is run by PonkoTools ("we"), a sole proprietorship in Japan.

What this site collects

There is no analytics on this site, and we neither collect nor keep any record of your visit. Its web fonts are served from the site itself, so nothing is fetched from an outside font service either. On the pages that show our address — this one among them — Cloudflare serves one small script from this same domain, which scrambles the address against harvesting robots and puts it back for you. What it does in your browser is put the address back, and we do not use it for analytics. Fetching it is one more request to Cloudflare, handled the same way as the rest of the page (below). No other page carries a script at all.

Cookies

This site stores exactly one cookie, ponkotools-lang.

Its value is either en or ja, nothing else
It is written only when you switch language explicitly using the switch at the top of the page
It is read when you open https://ponkotools.com/ so the site can show you the same language again
It is not used for analytics, advertising, or tracking you across sites

You can delete or refuse it in your browser. The language switch keeps working if you do, because the choice is also carried in the URL.

Processing by our host

This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. To deliver and secure it, Cloudflare may process your IP address, the time of your request, what you requested, and your browser and device information (see the Cloudflare privacy policy).

Advertising

Neither this site nor any other site we run carries advertising today. We intend to display advertising through Google AdSense, and where it starts, the following will apply on that site:

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to those or other websites

Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any personalised advertising is served

When advertising goes live on a site, that site's own privacy policy is updated to describe it in full before the first ad is served.

If you write to us

If you email the address above, we collect and keep your email address and the contents of your message in order to reply.

How long things are kept

How we keep it safe

The only thing we hold is the content of enquiries.

Where it sits, and who can reach it: only in a mail account that only we can sign in to, for the period set out above. "Only we can read it" describes our own access, not everyone's — that account is reached through Cloudflare's email routing service and Google's email service, both of which handle the message in transit under their own terms and safeguards
Where in the world: as above, enquiries are handled on services operated by providers based in the United States
Anything else: we will describe the other measures we take on request to the address above, except for any part where publishing it would itself weaken the protection

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us through the address above to show, correct, or delete anything we hold about you.

If you are in the EU / EEA or the UK (GDPR)

Legal basis: all of it rests on legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). The interests are three: (i) serving this site securely (Cloudflare's delivery and security processing), (ii) showing you the language you picked (processing the value held in the ponkotools-lang cookie), and (iii) answering your enquiry.
Writing that cookie in the first place happens only when you yourself operate the language switch. It is storage needed to provide something you explicitly asked for, so we do not ask for separate consent to it (ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3))
Giving us anything is optional: no law and no contract obliges you to provide us with anything. Leave the language switch alone and no cookie is written (the site follows your browser's language setting instead); do not write to us and we hold nothing
Recipients: Cloudflare (hosting and email routing), Google (email service)
Transfers: we are in Japan, and Japan holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission (the UK treats it the same way). Beyond that, the providers above may transfer data outside the EU / UK, including to the United States. The safeguards relied on for those transfers, and how to obtain a copy of them, are set out in each provider's privacy policy (Cloudflare / Google)
Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection, to the extent the law grants them here. Portability (Art. 20) is not among them: it applies only to processing based on consent or a contract, and neither is a basis we rely on
Complaints: you may complain to your national data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO)

Business handling personal information: PonkoTools. Our name and address are disclosed, without delay, on request to the address above (Art. 32(1)(i))
Purpose of use: answering enquiries
Provision to third parties: we do not provide what we hold to any third party
Security measures: as described under "How we keep it safe" above
Requests: notification of purpose, disclosure, correction, suspension of use, erasure, and disclosure of third-party provision records are all handled at the address above

Children

This site is not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, we will say so on this site in a way you can find.
